Our Story

Mike and I met in the early summer of 2010 at a good old Maryland crab feast in Annapolis at his mother's home. We had a mutual friend who essentially set us up that evening (although neither of us were aware) and thought we were a perfect match.

From the moment we met, there was a spark, and we talked long into the night, getting to know each other. He asked me out on a date that following week. I gladly accepted. He took me to dinner in historic downtown Annapolis and we talked about everything under the sun. I knew one thing was for sure, this boy could hold a conversation - something I absolutely adored about him. He wasn't afraid to talk about anything. He told me about his dreams, his goals, his education, his hobbies, and even a few embarassing chilhood stories. He asked me about my dreams, my goals, my education and hobbies and even I shared a few embarassing stories. We had an absolute blast on the date and made our relationship official a couple weeks later.

From that day on, everything clicked. We shared a strong adventurous spirit, love for the environment, and passion for life that led us through the next year and a half.

Just before we were supposed to leave for a week vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina, Mike popped the question on the pier where we had shared our first kiss and started our relationship. He had made a "message in a bottle" that he tied to the claw of a rubber crab that I pulled out of a trap in the water. Right before he dropped to his knee, I read the message out loud and it ended with this quote:

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined." -Henry David Thoreau

This quote had appeared many times throughout our relationship and holds very special meaning for us both. That little slip of paper that I pulled out of that bottle now sits framed in the living room of our very first home and whenever we need a little inspiration, we glance up at it and smile, remembering that day.

When trying to figure out what to call this blog, I knew it was perfect to adapt this quote for the title!

After that, the rest is history. We got married in September 2012 and have been enjoying life together since!
